What Is Physical Reality?
Physical reality is defined in Metaphysics as an image created in the Mind and then perceived by the Body.
Images created in the Mind consist of thought, which gives the image form, and feelings or vibration, which gives the form substance that can be perceived by one or more of the five physical senses.
From a metaphysical viewpoint, reality is often referred to as "not real" or "an illusion".
While it is true that the physical Universe we perceive with our five senses is in fact nothing more than an image in our mind, it is nonetheless very "real".
The experience of it is "real", because the one having this experience is also "real".
The word "reality" is defined as that which is known to exist.
To test this definition, ask yourself who is having the experience of reading this page at this moment?
The answer is; you are.
If you did not exist, you could not be here reading these words. Therefore, you are real simply because you are aware of, or know yourself to exist.
(Read "Epistemology" for more about the nature of knowledge versus belief.)
The physical Universe is real because you know it to exist. It doesn't matter that it is an image in your mind, or holographic in nature. These qualities will have an impact on how you relate to the world and other people in it, but it does not disqualify the reality of your existence and experience.
Some of us might become depressed when we are "dis-illusioned" as to the true nature of the world we find ourselves living in.
If the physical world isn't physical, if your body is just an image in your mind, then many may wonder "what's the point"?
The point is that you are here. You are having this experience. You are discovering what you are not and, by contrast, what you really are. All of this contributes to the eternal "knowing" of the consciousness that is the life in all.
Just as "virtual reality" allows a human being to safely explore otherwise impossible scenarios, physical reality allows the soul to experience that which is otherwise impossible.
Being "separate" is not possible in the non-physical realms.
That is why the Illusion of Separation must be created in the Mind - so you can safely have an experience that would not be possible any other way.
Just because it is an "illusion" of the Mind does not make it any less real!
