FENG SHUI - Connect with the Earth's Energy to Bring Harmony into
All Areas of Your Life
Use Feng Shui in the Home, Office, and Garden to create balance, health and beauty in your life.
Applying feng shui in the home and other environments is an ancient Chinese tradition that can have beneficial effects upon the mind, body and soul.
The term "feng shui" literally translates as "wind-water". The ancient Chinese believed that qualities represented by wind operate to disperse "chi", or life-force energies. The qualities represented by water act to collect and focus life-force, or "chi". The term feng shui, therefore, does not literally refer to wind and water, but to the forces of the Universe that possess these properties.
The International Feng Shui Guild describes the practice of feng shui as "a system of philosophy, practice, and art that has been used for thousands of years as a method of creating a balance between people and their environments."
The use of feng shui in the home begins with the awareness of spatial orientation.
Do you know which compass direction your front door faces?
Are you aware of the areas of your home that face North, South, East, West, Northeast, and so on?
Many people do not know how their home aligns with the magnetic fields of the earth, or why it matters.
Developments in science and metaphysics have shown that the magnetic fields of the earth influence and may even shape life on our planet. There is also evidence that the magnetic signals of the human heart influence and shape the function and well being of our own cells and body. If our home has an impact upon and is affected by, these electromagnetic fields, then understanding and living in harmony with these forces could be essential to our health, happiness, and productivity.
The ancient Chinese practitioners of feng shui seemed to sense this importance when using the compass to orient building for optimum support, the flow of life, and energy forces. Feng shui does not stop with magnetic orientation. Many other factors are taken into account.
How do I use Feng Shui? Applying feng shui in the home and other environments also takes into account the influence of light, color, placement of furniture and decorative items, and the use of plants. The effects of light and color upon the mind and emotions are well documented. Placing furniture and other items in ways that facilitate movement and comfort simply makes sense. And plants are known to create a healthier environment by cleaning the air and bringing beauty and nature into our living spaces.
It is unfortunate that feng shui was dismissed as primitive myth and discarded at a time when there has been more building and construction than perhaps any other time in history. Too many of us live and work in boxes that block and obstruct the natural flow of electromagnetic and other energies that we are only now beginning to understand.
However, even if you find yourself living in a space with "bad feng shui" as some people call it, there is much you can do to improve the situation.
Living in harmony with our environment reduces stress and promotes well being. Start learning about and using feng shui in the home, office and even your garden today by visiting the links below!
